Assistance Process

Community Helpers of Rutherford County will treat you with courtesy and respect. We believe life happens, and when faced with an unexpected financial crisis you need help judgement-free. Upon eligibility, we will provide financial assistance toward your Utility/Rent bills or for Medication and support as you transition through this time of need. The following steps should be followed for assistance:

1. First, call the CHORC main line telephone number (615-898-0617) and leave a message.

2. A CHORC staff member will return your call, assess your initial eligibility, and then schedule a phone interview with you at a later time. You must provide required documents via mail or e-mail (scan) to CHORC prior to the next phone interview.

3. During the phone interview, which should take about 30 minutes, CHORC will determine your eligibiliy and complete the application with you.

4. If approved, a payment voucher will be e-mailed to you or a vendor and checks will be mailed weekly on Friday.

5. You will also be provided with information about all our support programs and any additional needs you may have. CHORC can provide additional community resources and referrals as well.
